Creative Director
Agency: Kamp Grizzly
For the 2017 NYC Marathon, the adidas Running team wanted to make a bold statement: that women have the power to change the rules of sport.
Together with adidas, we created a campaign that put the spotlight on 6 powerful women taking on the 26.2. From the first woman to officially run a marathon, to a first time marathon runner, each of their stories were brought to life in the empowering piece: Fearless AF.
First Official Marathon Woman
In 1967 the thought of a woman running 26.2 miles was out of question. At the time, it was common knowledge that a woman’s body could not sustain such endurance. Kathrine Switzer shattered this frightening theory when she entered the Boston Marathon that same year.
She did not go unnoticed however. Race official Jock Semple was appalled by this sight, chased her down, screamed at her, and attempted to shove her out of the race. That day sparked a desire in Kathrine to inspire millions of women in the running community.
50 years later, her passion is stronger than ever through her efforts with her non-profit organization, 261 Fearless. We looked to recreate that shocking moment in Boston to show how Fearless Kathrine was, and still is today.
Ultra-Marathon Runner
Robin was a successful lawyer in New York, but she decided to leave her comfortable career to pursue her true passion on the pavement, crushing the 26.2. She reinvented herself and today is a best selling author, ultra marathon runner, VP of Peloton Cycle, with 25 marathons under her belt. We recreated her bold decision to leave the corporate world in this piece, standing strong in her true identity.
First Time Marathon Runner
Through her confidence and willingness to explore all creative aspects outside of the runway, Karlie continually pushes to break the mold of how models are perceived. From running her first marathon this year, to inspiring a new generation of young women to explore careers in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering & Math) through her organization, Kode With Klossy, Karlie is a true boss.
Three-Time Olympic Runner
As a three-time Olympian with more than 20 years as a professional athlete, Jen’s passion for running is radiant. Her newest chapter in life enriches her to share her well earned knowledge with young aspiring female runners. Together they are fierce AF.
Five-Time Marathon Winner
The Kenyan long distance runner is a heavily decorated athlete and second fastest female marathoner in history. Mary holds the world record for a women-only marathon and is the defending champion of the two most popular marathons in the world. She crushes her competition because she is determined to win.
Twelve-Time Marathon Runner
As the run coach for adidas Runners NYC, her work as an art therapist with underserved youth in Brooklyn and her female focussed run club, Girls Run NYC, Jessie uses her creativity to make a positive impact on fellow New York runners. No matter what she does, she tackles it with meaning, letting her true creativity shine.
